Germany Legalizes Recreational Marijuana for Adults

The German parliament passed a new law to allow the recreational use of cannabis with 407 votes to 226.

Under the new law, adults 18 and older will be allowed to possess cannabis, however, the law’s strict rules will make it difficult to buy cannabis. Adults can possess up to 25 grams of cannabis in public. In private places, such as homes, the legal limit will be 50 grams.

Smoking cannabis in many public spaces will become legal as of April 1.
